 Penndel Swim League Jefferson Division BOYS and GIRLS Championships -

·SIGN OUT MEET. Entry deadline- TODAY.
·No Qualifying Times. All swimmers who have competed in at least 2 dual meets this season are eligible to swim.
·Swimmers may enter up to 5 events (3 individual and 2 relay). Events will be coach pick but, as always, swimmers may make requests.
·Saturday, February 11th
o13&Over Swimmers- Check In at 12:15PM
·Sunday, February 12th
o8&Under Swimmers- Check In at 6:50AM
o9-10, 11-12 Age Group Swimmers- Check In at 12:15PM
oGreen Group swimmers will be expected to assist with 8&U and 9-12 year old sessions.

Online Meet Registration closes tonight.  Separate emails regarding registration have been sent. This is a SIGN OUT meet. Like with dual meets, swimmers must notify us if they are unable to attend. Non-responses will be assumed attending meet but will be placed in limited events (no relays) to prevent coaches from having to make major lineup changes on deck.

·Sunday, March 4th at Upper Main Line YMCA (Berwyn)
·End of season championship meet for 8&Under Swimmers.
·Girls- Morning Session- Warm Up 7:15AM, Meet 8:30AM
·Boys- Afternoon Session- Warm Up 1:00PM, Meet 2:00PM
·Time line tentative, will be verified after entries received
·SIGN IN MEET- Registration now open online. (Swimmers may pick own events online for this meet.) Sign up email to follow.
 
Charlie Hartley Memorial Silver Championships (CHMSC)-
·Saturday, February 25th at GCIT in Sewell, NJ
·End of season championship meet for non-district qualifiers.
·Entry information for this meet has not yet been released. I expect it very soon.
·Qualifying times can be found on the team bulletin board.
 
Meet Results-

Congrats to both the girls and boys squads who both came away from Rocky Run with 5-0 victories despite many Rocky Run swimmers giving us, by far, their fastest swims of the year! It was an impressive day all around (though I saw plenty for us to work on!)

The boys secured an undefeated Jefferson Division Dual Meet Team Championship with the victory. Also, the 8&U boys, 9-10 girls, 11-12 boys, and 15-18 boys all secured (undefeated) division age group dual meet championships.

In addition 6 new swimmers made district cuts (Isi Schweiger, Sydney Haefner, Breanne McDermott, Georgia Shomber, Sean Doyle, Stefen Shields.) That brings our current total to 55 swimmers!

The meet was also Lionville's first dual in a meters pool in over 3 years and I counted 12 team records which fell this weekend! Nice job, Riptide

Parents:

The Lionville Riptide Swim Team will be hosting a Flapjack Fundraiser at Applebee’s (Eagleview location near Target/Giant) on Saturday, Jan. 28th from 8-10am. Tickets will go on sale on Monday, Jan. 2nd and can be purchased by contacting Jill Maki via email (jill.maki@comcast.net) or at LCY after Red group practice (6:45-7pm) on M/W/F. Tickets will also be sold at both the boys and girls dual meets on Saturday, Jan. 7th at LCY. Encourage family, friends and neighbors to attend! We are limited to 300 tickets, so sales are on a first come-first serve basis!! This is a fun activity for the entire family, so come out and support your team!

Ticket prices: adults $7.00, children (under 5) $4.50

Cost includes 3 pancakes, 2 pieces of sausage, unlimited beverages (coffee, tea, OJ, soda) 

Proceeds to benefit the Lionville Riptide Swim Team

 

 

 

 10^th Annual Maryland Winterfest Invitational-

 

 

Lionville had quite a showing at the largest Y Invitational in the country this year. Competing against 46 Y’s and over 1500 swimmers Lionville finished 15^th in the combined team scores. There were many highlights which I shared on the team facebook page but here are a few for those of you who missed the updates.

·Heather MacCausland- 1^st place 9-10 100 Freestyle, 2^nd place 100 Breaststroke and 50 Freestyle

·Caitlin Manthe- 6^th place Girls Open 50 Freestyle

·Greg Grewal- 4^th place Boys Open 100 Breaststroke and 200 Breaststroke

· All of these swims were team record times. 

· Final results for the meet will be released later today and will be up on the team web database tomorrow. Check them out to see just how many great swims we had over the weekend.

· All Winterfest swimmers should see me to pick up their souvenir swim bags.

 

Note about YMCA Districts and States-

 

 

This year the days for each age group are being switched from what they have been in the past. The schedule will be as follows for both meets:

 

 

· 13-14 age group- Saturday Morning

· 15-18 age group- Saturday Afternoon

· 10&Unders- Sunday Morning

· 11-12 age group- Sunday Afternoon

The LCY Swim Team Parents Association is excited to announce a new fundraising opportunity in collaboration with the Redner’s Market which opened last week on Rt. 113 in Lionville. The Redner’s Save-A-Tape program will donate 1% of all eligible grocery receipts back to our team. All you have to do is pick up a Redner’s Pump Perks/Save A Tape card at the customer service desk (no paperwork required!) and use it every time you shop at Redner’s. Drop your receipts in the collection box at LCY or Eagleview and we will take care of the rest! Swimmers of the Week 

Georgia Shomber- Georgia has shown a renewed commitment to swimming this season and has consistently been swimming best times recently as a result. The results got even better this last weekend when Georgia recorded best times and district cuts in both the 50 and 100 freestyle events!

Conor Tunno- Conor is one of the newest members to the Riptide team and he has quickly become a great addition to the squad. Conor has consistently looked for feedback and ways to get better since joining the team. He’s seen the effort pay off in a big way in the 100 fly where Conor has dropped from a 1:02 to a 56.9 this winter! Conor was part of the 15-18 boys medley relay which broke the short course meter team record Saturday.
