Program Information
The Lionville Community YMCA competitive swimming program (LCY) is a non-profit organization directed by the Competitive Aquatic Director (a full-time employee of the YMCA) and supported by parent volunteers.   LCY offers competitive swimming programs for all age/ability levels that start each fall, winter, spring and summer.
LCY is affiliated nationally with the YMCA of the USA and USA Swimming, the official governing body for competitive swimming in the United States.   Locally, LCY participates in the Penn-Del Swimming League (YMCA) and Middle Atlantic Swimming (USA).

LCY Swimming reorganized the competitive swimming program in the Summer of 1999.   LCY operates a two-season competitive swimming program with Summer and Winter programs.   Each program offers multiple training levels to meet the needs of children ages 7-18.   Swimmers are evaluated by the coaching staff prior to each season and placed in levels based on swimming ability, maturity and age.   Pre-season clinics are offered in the spring and fall for conditioning and teaching or reviewing stroke progressions (REQUIRED FOR NEW SWIMMERS).   It is highly recommended that swimmers participate in both the spring and fall clinic, as well as the summer program, in order to facilitate their progression through the YMCA's program levels.

Training Equipment

Swimmers are required to provide their own TRAINING EQUIPMENT.   Lionville Swimming is a Speedo sponsored program. We suggest that participants use Speedo equipment when available.   Local and on-line vendors can be used for program purchases.   Swim fins should be constructed of soft, flexible rubber.   "Dive" fins are not acceptable for practices.   All groups have some additional TRAINING EQUIPMENT that should be purchased before the start of each session:

One-stop or on-line equipment shopping can be done at the following locations:
